Day care teacher says she was fired after reporting abuse by fellow teacher

Jasmine Hall let go by Hall Academy Children's Education Center after reporting abuse

HOUSTON – Jasmine Hall, a former teacher at Hall Academy Children's Education Center, said she was fired after reported alleged abuse by a fellow teacher.

"This is what I get for saying what I've seen," Hall said. "She was abusing him is what (she was doing), pulling his ear, pinching him, grabbing his arm hard."

That child's mother then talked with the day care's director before withdrawing him from the school.

Chante Ballou, who took her child out of Hall Academy said, "His teacher was someone that I trusted with him. I feel like I failed him, because I literally handed him over to her every day."

Other parents also heard about the situation, but said they are confident the day care is handling it.

"It's an investigation. It's taken care of," parent Chasity Mcgee said. "Let them do what they have to do."

John Campbell, another parent said, "It was nerve racking at first. Once I spoke to them, they put me at ease. (I) haven't had any problems."

Since the allegations, the state's Child Care Licensing division has launched an investigation.

Day care officials said they're not commenting because of that investigation.

"I felt like we were just as guilty if we didn't say something," Hall said.

According to parents, the teacher accused of the abuse was fired. But Hall, who's expecting a child, said she was also let go.

"I really thought I was doing the right thing, because I thought something was going to happen to him really bad," Hall said.
