Maldonado was considered a high-risk sex offender and was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender. He was added to the "most wanted" list on Sept. 16.

Authorities said after receiving a tip, officers with the U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Denver Police Department found Maldonado at a homeless shelter in Denver. He was arrested without incident.

A reward of up to $3,000 will be paid to the tipster.

Officials said so far this year, DPS and other agencies have arrested 28 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including 10 gang members, and $71,500 in rewards has been paid for tips that resulted in arrests.

The cash rewards are funded by the Governor's Criminal Justice Division.
