One man was hospitalized Sunday morning after being shot in the parking lot of a shopping center.

Investigators said just after midnight, Harris County deputies responded to a shooting call in North Harris County.

Deputies arrived at the shopping center on FM 1960 at Aldine Westfield Road, they found one man who was shot in the parking lot. They also found more than 30 shell casings on the ground.

At the time, an individual had rented the ballroom for a private party operating in The Dance Studio. Deputies said at some point an altercation broke out in the parking lot next door, and several people pulled out guns.

Witnesses said they heard a few shots at first, followed by multiple rounds of gunfire.

The victim was hit by one of the bullets fired in the shootout.

The shooter fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Medical responders took the shooting victim to Ben Taub General Hospital in serious but stable condition.
