2010: Jack Tatum, a football safety who played 10 seasons from 1971 through 1980 for the Oakland Raiders and Houston Oilers, dies of a heart attack at age 61 in Oakland, California. Considered one of the hardest hitters ever to play the game, he won a Super Bowl with Oakland in 1977 and a national championship with Ohio State in 1968. He also shares the record for the longest fumble return for a touchdown, returning a fumble 104 yards against Green Bay in September 1972. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
