HOUSTON – You watched as she made Olympic history at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games and now American Luger Erin Hamlin is here in Houston for the Atlantic League All-Star Game hosted by the Sugar Land Skeeters at Constellation Field.
At just 27 years old, Erin Hamlin has some pretty big statistics under her belt.
Hamlin single-handedly broke a 50-year drought becoming the first American ever to medal in singles luge in Olympic history.
Now she's in Houston showing off her bronze medal to veterans at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Hamlin told Local 2, "One of the great things about being an elite athlete position where you get on a bigger stage is you get an opportunity to do things you otherwise may not have and being able to share my story and inspire other people in the world, to me it's more important than anything else."
It's the first stop on her tour hosted by the USA Luge Sponsor Team Worldwide.
She's also visiting sick kids at Texas Children's Hospital.
Then you can watch Erin throw out the first pitch at the All-Star Game at Constellation Field in Sugar Land.
Hamlin laughed, "Yeah, no pressure. I've actually done a couple of first pitches so hopefully I can perform well enough. But baseball's definitely not my forte, but I'm excited. I love sports."
Still basking in the glow from the Sochi Games, we had to ask if we will see her again at the 2016 Winter Games in Pyeong Chang?
Hamlin said, "I think just getting a bronze medal in Sochi was so unexpected that now anything else would definitely be icing on the cake."
