Officials seize $864,000 worth of marijuana in Richmond area drug bust

Officials found a total of 481 marijuana plants

RICHMOND, Texas – The Fort Bend County Narcotic Task Force has completed an investigation targeting an illegal indoor growing marijuana operation in the Richmond area.

The force had been investigating the operation on the 25000 block of Canyon Crossing Drive in the Westheimer Lakes subdivision for a month.

On Thursday, the investigation came to an end when a warrant for the residence was executed. Officials found an indoor marijuana operation in five different rooms of the house.

Officials say they found indoor growing lights, water pumps, fans, electrical ballasts, assorted equipment used for manufacturing and a total of 481 marijuana plants.

The suspects, Hoi Van Tran, 53, and Ngoc Hong McCubbins,57, of Port Arthur, Texas were arrested and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on first degree felony charges of possession of marijuana.

The marijuana seized at the residence, which was being rented by the suspects, had a street value of approximately $864,000.

Tran and McCubbins are currently in jail with a $15,000 bond each.
