Former Hightower high school student killed in 2-vehicle accident during spring break

MISSOURI CITY, Texas – A former Hightower High School student was killed Sunday morning when a SUV T-boned her car during spring break in Missouri City, officials said. 

Missouri City police said a silver Honda Civic carrying four women in their 20s was traveling south on Vicksburg Boulevard into the intersection of Highway 6 when they were T-boned by a white GMC Yukon around 2:45 a.m.

The driver of the Honda, Cayla Simple, 19, was killed upon impact with the SUV and one of her passengers was taken by helicopter to a hospital, officials said. 

The two other women were taken to a hospital by ambulance. The condition of the driver of the SUV is currently unknown.

Police said Simple was a freshman at Navarro College and was hanging out with her friends for spring break. Police said the women were on their way to McDonald's to get food and that's when they were struck.

Officials are investigating the deadly crash.
