Officers search for owner of abandoned car found in Brays Bayou

HOUSTON – Houston police were trying to get in contact with the owner of a car found in Brays Bayou Tuesday morning.

According to investigators, a passerby first spotted the car around 4 a.m. on N. MacGregor Way near Scott Street.

Houston firefighters responded to the alert, and used a rescue boat to search the water. Crews didn't find anyone inside the vehicle.

An HPD helicopter joined the search and flew over Brays Bayou, but didn't find anyone in the area.

Houston's dive team then headed to the area to perform an underwater search.

Officers were working to contact the owner of the car on Tuesday to see if it was stolen.
