If you'll be driving towards downtown Houston this weekend, be aware that southbound lanes of the North Freeway will be closed while crews work on the Hogan Street Bridge.
Starting Friday evening, TxDOT crews will close the southbound lanes of the North Freeway at the Katy Freeway near downtown. The closure begins Friday, January 10 at 9 p.m. and lasts through Monday, January 13 at 5 a.m.
Transportation officials say the closure is schedule to all crews to replace several beams on the bridge.
During the closure, drivers traveling southbound on the North Freeway will be detoured to the Katy Freeway westbound and then take the Taylor Street exit, take a right on Taylor and then a right on the Katy Freeway eastbound frontage road to get onto the main lanes of the Katy Freeway eastbound to re-enter the North Freeway.
TxDOT says police officers will be stationed at the Taylor intersection to direct traffic.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to consider an alternate route.
A second closure is scheduled for the following weekend so crews can complete any remaining of the work.
