No bond granted for suspected Cypress-area rapist

CYPRESS, Texas – The man accused of raping and robbing two women in Cypress faced a judge Monday.

Deputies say Ricky Lee Zepeda is exactly where he should be -- in jail with no bond. The sheriff called him a serial rapist.

Zepeda will celebrate his 34th birthday in jail. He's charged with two sexual assaults. His crime spree began on Jan. 7.

A special task force handled the case and investigated more than 50 tips.

At around noon on Jan. 7, police say Zepeda kicked in the door of a home in the 18000 block of Temple Hill, tied the victim's hands and ankles and demanded money. He sexually assaulted the woman while her children were home.

"Those kiddos were placed in another bedroom while Ricky Lee Zepeda took the victim to another bedroom, physically assaulted her and eventually sexually assaulting her," said Dep. Armando Tamez.

A similar crime happened on Jan. 21. The suspect's description matched the composite sketch. Deputies say stolen jewelry and electronics were recovered in Zepeda's car and home.

"Ricky Lee Zepeda, go figure, has denied committing the home invasion and sexual assaults but does admit to being in possession of the stolen items," said Sheriff Adrian Garcia.

Deputies believe there may be more victims. If you have any information about Zepeda, please call police at 713-884-3131.
