HOUSTON – Tuesday marks 1,000 consecutive days and a new record that the average price of gas will cost more than $3 per gallon.
According to AAA, this streak started on December 23, 2010.

The motor club estimates that unless there is another recession, high gas prices may be here to stay.
The $3 threshold started after Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf of Mexico and destroyed oil rigs in 2005.
