New human case of West Nile virus reported in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – The Montgomery County Public Health District is reporting its 14th human case of West Nile virus in that county.

The new case is a man in his 50s who lives in the southwestern part of Montgomery county. He is in stable condition.

According to the Montgomery County Public Health District, this is the first confirmed human case since the aerial spraying began on Aug. 23.

County commissioners approved aerial spraying for approximately 240,000 acres with the mosquito control chemical Dibrom.

The court approved aerial spraying for mosquitoes in the areas of the county identified as the most heavily populated with West Nile positive results.
