Neighbors show support after infant hospitalized from drinking lighter fluid

SPRING, Texas – Anyone with a barbecue pit probably has lighter fluid out right now, and a Spring neighborhood has a warning for them.

Friday, blue colored ribbons hung in a Spring neighborhood, but they not just making a blanket statement. They are specifically showing support for Mason.

"It's a neighborhood. You do that," Craig Fitzgerald said.

Neighbors said about a week ago, Mason, 1, accidentally swallowed lighter fluid that was in his backyard.

"I've shared it several times this week at safety meetings at work. Go around and pick the stuff up. Keep an eye on them. They don't know. It's a drink to them," Fitzgerald said.

Texas Children's Hospital said Mason is still in the PICU and in critical condition.

"This is a really hard time for (the family), so they're really wanting everyone to kind of respect their privacy and prayers is what they're really asking for," Megan Lampkin said.
