Nearly 50 animals rescued from Waller County home, Houston SPCA officials say

Animals living in 'deplorable conditions'

WALLER COUNTY, Texas – Houston SPCA officials said 40 dogs, six cats, two parrots and a parakeet were rescued from a home in Hockley, where they were living in "deplorable conditions."

The SPCA said the home was filled with urine, feces and stacks of crates, newspapers and debris, which made it challenging for them and the Waller County Sheriff's Office to get inside.

Officials said at one point they had to use a window to get inside the home, which was not being occupied by the homeowner.

Houston SPCA officials said some of the animals have untreated medical issues, and all of the animals were being taken back to its campus for a full exam and any necessary treatment.

A warrant was served to the homeowner, who was not identified. A court hearing has been set for Nov. 21.
