HOUSTON - A Houston man living in New York was found dead with his body bound, police said.
A housekeeper found 48-year-old Charles Romo's body on Monday morning. Police said Romo's arms and legs were bound, there was tape around his neck and there was a bag over his head.
Friends said they were shocked and saddened by the news. A former classmate at St. Thomas University said Romo recently reached out on Facebook, telling her that he planned to move back to Houston.
The classmate said Romo's partner died in the Twin Towers on Sept. 11 and Romo had suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. Romo was also blind in one eye and had a doctor-prescribed seeing-eye dog, which was found safe in the apartment.
Police said they have questioned a pizza deliveryman, who may have been the last person to see Romo alive. Investigators said the man told them he dropped food off at the apartment on Sunday night and there was another man in Romo's apartment.
