HOUSTON -

A man who witnesses said was sitting naked at a north Houston bus stop near kids was beaten with a baseball bat by an angry motorist.

"I thought he had passed out, but he was just naked right there at the bus stop," said one witness who didn't want to be identified.  “He was just sitting down with no clothes on and kids around."

According to police, someone driving by Northborough and Rush Creek Tuesday morning noticed the naked man sitting there and stopped his vehicle in the middle of the street. He got out of his Ford Expedition wielding a wooden baseball bat and began hitting the naked man. The attacker sped away.

"I understand he was around kids, but still no one deserves to get hurt," Heidi Collier said, while picking her son up from the same bus stop.

Other bystanders agreed.  "I don't think (beating him) was right," Reginald Lucas said, while waiting for the bus. "I think the boy needs help and jumping a man ain't really helping him."

Witnesses said the man walked to the bus stop from a convenience store across the street at around 8 a.m. Surveillance video obtained by Local 2 shows the man flexing and stretching and dancing while disrobing inside the convenience store.

The clerk said he asked the man to leave several times and said the man was clearly on drugs.

The naked man was taken to a nearby hospital in an unknown condition.

As of Tuesday evening, police had not identified the naked man nor charged him with a crime.
