A murder suspect who was wanted by Galveston County sheriffs was arrested in Mexico.
Jose Pablo Lopez is charged with capital murder and is being held for a probation violation of injury to a child or elderly person.
The Galveston Police Department responded to gunshots around 12:26 a.m. June 18, 2001, in the 5600 block of Ave Q 1/2. The first officer to arrive said he saw the victim lying on his back motionless inside the doorway.
Officials said deputies have searched vigorously for Lopez throughout the years.
Lopez was arrested in June 2013 in a small town in Mexico. Lopez protested his extradition status, delaying his arrival to Texas.
Deputies are still searching for the second person involved in this shooting. Elisandro Salinas is wanted for capital murder.
