Murder-suicide suspect dies after wife killed, sister-in-law shot

PASADENA, Texas – A man killed his estranged wife Thursday night, shot his sister-in-law and then shot himself at a Pasadena restaurant, police said.

The shooting was reported around 8 p.m. at Caliente Tierra Taqueria in the 4400 block of Red Bluff Road. 

Margarita Pineda, 20, was with her sister, Sonia Pineda, 24, in the restaurant when Margarita Pineda's estranged husband, Manuel Ochoa, 20, walked in with a gun and ordered everyone out of the restaurant, except Margarita Pineda, police said. 

Sonia Pineda, the owner of the restaurant confronted Ochoa and he shot her in the arm, police said. Sonia Pineda called police from a neighboring business.

Police said Ochoa shot Margarita Pineda twice as Sonia Pineda ran to the neighboring business. 

After the shooting Ochoa shot himself, police said.

Sonia Pineda was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. Margarita Pineda was pronounced dead at the scene. Ochoa was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann, where he later died.
