KATY, Texas - The Harris County Sheriff's Office is looking for several people who fled a pickup truck after a police chase in the Katy area.
Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, an off-duty Department of Public Safety trooper noticed a suspicious vehicle on Interstate 10 and called it in.
The vehicle was reported stolen, according to investigators. Once the vehicle crossed the Harris County line, officers turned their lights on.
That's what started a chase that lasted approximately 10 minutes, according to officials. Authorities say the vehicle crashed into a ditch on Pederson Road near I-10 and about 15 people ran out of the vehicle into a field.
At least two people were transported to the hospital and six were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Authorities are still trying to figure out how many people ran out of the vehicle.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been called to the scene to determine if any of the people involved were immigrants living in the country without legal permission.
