Police said the 32-year-old biker was driving a Yamaha motorcycle while traveling on the outbound lanes. Police said the biker sped past other vehicles, failed to control his speed and struck the rear of a dump truck.

He was thrown from the motorcycle, which got dragged under the dump truck and then caught on fire.

The biker died on impact of the original crash, but a car traveling close behind couldn’t avoid running over the motorcyclist after the crash, police said.

The dump truck driver and the driver of the car stayed behind to speak with detectives, police said.

Police have not released the identity of the motorcyclist.
