Police said a motorcyclist was killed after he was hit by an SUV in southeast Houston.

It happened around 5:45 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Evergreen Drive.

Houston police said a 56-year-old man was riding his motorcycle westbound on Lawndale when he attempted to turn left onto Evergreen.

Officials said the man failed to yield the right of way to a Chevrolet Trailblazer and was hit.

The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene until emergency crews arrived.

Police said the victim was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No charges are expected to be filed at this time.
