HOUSTON – A motorcycle deputy was injured in a crash early Tuesday afternoon on the south side of Houston.
The crash was reported just after 1 p.m. on the southbound side of Highway 288 just before Beltway 8 south.

According to officials at the scene, the deputy was conducting a funeral procession when a car hit his motorcycle from behind. The driver of the car was looking at their phone at the time of the crash.
The deputy, who suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, was from Fort Bend County Precinct 2, officials said.
Video from Sky2 showed the deputy’s motorcycle was about 50 yards away from where he was lying on the ground.
The crash backed up traffic for several miles.
