Motorcycle accident leaves husband, father of two in critical condition

HOUSTON – A Pearland man is fighting for his life in the Texas Medical Center after being gravely injured in a motorcycle accident in La Porte.  Justin Herring, 28, crashed in a single motorcycle crash on his way to work Friday morning.

"He is unconscious and in a coma," says his wife Amy.

Herring was on his way to work Friday morning around 5:30 when he lost control of his motorcycle on Fairmont Parkway near Highway 146. He was just four minutes away from his job.

"They said there was about 120 feet of skid marks, and then he finally hit a guard rail," says Amy Herring. "He flew 80 feet."

Herring's motorcycle wasn't discovered until about an hour after the accident. He himself was not found until two hours later.  He laid undetected all that time until some city workers noticed him in a drainage ditch.  They called 911 and Herring was flown to the Medical Center by Lifeflight.

"He has severe brain injury," says his wife.  "His left leg was amputated, his right leg is completely broken."

Despite  the critical injuries the family of the husband and father of two is praying and believing he will pull through.  They're also asking for help from the public to assist in his extensive medical bills.

"We need to lift him up, get him right," says his mother Sherry Wash, fighting back tears.  "We need him to wake up."

Anyone who would like to help with Herring's medical bills can donate through a GoFundMe account that's been set up here.
