BOLIVAR PENINSULA, Texas -

The mother of murder victim Britney Cosby claims the young woman was often harassed by her father for being gay.

"She had called me several times that he did not like the idea of her being gay, always throwing it in her face," Loranda McDonald said Friday.

The revelation is important, claims McDonald, because James Larry Cosby, Britney's father has been charged with evidence tampering in the double murder case.

Crystal Jackson, Britney Cosby's lover of nearly two years, was also found near Cosby last Friday on Bolivar.

Local 2 Investigates asked the Galveston County Sheriff's Office if and when James Larry Cosby, currently held in jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, might be charged with murders.

"A lot still has to be done. I could not begin to give you a time period right now," Sgt. Bruce Balchunas, Galveston County deputy, said.

Friday night at the New Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Church Jackson was remembered by friends and family, including her father, a reverend.

"I never thought I would have to stand and preach my own daughter's funeral," Rev. Ivan Jackson said.

Jackson and Cosby will both be laid to rest Saturday in separate services, the families said.
