A Houston woman was arrested after being accused of hitting her 14-year-old son with a cell phone charger.
Alba Luz Rochez, 44, is charged with injury to a child.
According to court documents, the alleged abuse happened on February 4.
Court documents state the boy had a 6-inch-long, oval-shaped red mark on the right side of his chest, as well as several long, red linear marks on both of his arms that were about a foot long.
Officials say it's unclear who reported the alleged abuse to Child Protective Services, but a CPS investigator took photographs of the boy's injuries on February 5.
According to court documents, the boy has special needs and was not able to give many details about the alleged abuse.
When the boy's sister was interviewed by investigators, she reported seeing her mother hit her brother with a cell phone charger. She said her brother got in trouble for making too much noise. She told investigators she noticed the injuries the next day when she was giving her brother a bath. She said her mother told her she was sorry and didn't want to hit the boy anymore.
When questioned by investigators, Rochez denied the allegations. Investigators said Rochez would not admit that she hit the boy with a cell phone charger, but said that her daughter was telling the truth.
Rochez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. She has since posted a $5,000 bond.
