The complex's manager noticed the toddler wandering for a couple of hours and knocked on Tamang's door.

When Tamang didn't respond, the manager called police.

Officers say Tamang's older daughter told them that her mother left the sleeping child in the apartment, while Tamang left to enroll her other two children in school.

Tamang's daughter says when the family came back to the apartment, they noticed the door was open.

Investigators found the family and told them that the child had been located.

Officers say Tamang admitted that she left her child at home by herself and that her husband was at work when she did it.

Tamang is charged with abandoning a child with intent to return.

She's in Harris County Jail on $2,000 bond.
