Mother, 2 sons terrorized during home invasion in SW Houston

HOUSTON – A mother and her two young sons were terrorized and then robbed by masked gunmen in their southwest Houston home Sunday night.

Houston police said the family, who lives on Sharpview Drive, was walking out to their car around 9 p.m., when they were confronted by three men in their 20s and 30s.

The suspects were wearing masks, dark clothing and gloves, according to authorities.

Investigators said one of the gunmen pistol-whipped the 41-year-old mother and forced them back inside their home. Once inside, police said the woman was bound with zip ties and ordered to lie on the kitchen floor with her sons, ages 2 and 7.

According to police, the gunmen told the woman they knew there was a safe in the house. The suspects found it, broke it open and took thousands of dollars worth of items.

Once the suspects were gone, the older son freed his mother and she called for help. The woman suffered a few bruises but will be OK.
