FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputies are looking for the suspects who broke into two separate storage facilities near Rosenberg.
The first incident happened on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at a unit located in the 5700 block of Highway 36. 21 individual storage sheds were burglarized, deputies said.
"They cut the hinges, they did not cut the locks," said Bessie Janacek, the facility's owner. "You cannot cut these kind of locks."
Janacek told KPRC Local 2 investigators speculate the thieves were "practicing" how fast they could break-in and get-a-way without being caught. Then, she said, they'll likely hit larger storage facilities where they will score better loot. In these recent crimes, nothing appears to have been stolen.
"There was a computer in there. They didn't even take that," Janacek said.
According to investigators, the same thieves are likely responsible for a break-in at another storage facility located in the 7900 block of Loop 540 in Beasley. The suspects gained entry by cutting a hole in the chain link fence.
