Montgomery County Jail escaped inmate possibly seen in neighborhood

$5,000 reward offered for information leading to capture of Britt Privatte

CONROE, Texas – Authorities searched a neighborhood Monday for the inmate who escaped from Montgomery County Jail more than a week ago.

Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers believe Britt Chadvurn Privatte, 40, could still be in the Conroe or Montgomery County area, seeking help from friends or acquaintances.

Search efforts Monday centered on the River Plantation neighborhood in Conroe after a woman said a man entered her house while she was taking a nap. The man ran away, and several other residents in the area reported seeing an individual.

Deputies said they aren't positive that the man was Privatte, but they scoured the area in case it was him.

Deputies said Privatte was last positively seen in surveillance video in the recreation yard of the jail.

Investigators said they believe Privatte scaled a wall inside the recreation yard and broke through the upper fencing to the roof on March 17.

On Jan. 7, authorities said Privatte was arrested by the Houston Police Department, along with two other suspects, involving a bank robbery inside the city of Houston, but within the boundaries of Montgomery County in the Kingwood area.

Authorities said Privatte was known to work in the Walker County area and listed an address in Sugar Land, Texas as his home.

How Privatte was able to escape without detection is still under investigation.

Crime Stoppers has increased the reward amount, saying they will now pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and capture of Privatte.

Those with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-392-STOP (7867) or leaving an anonymous tip online here.

Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Texas Rangers and other local law enforcement agencies said they are working together, using all available resources to track down and arrest the prisoner.

Officials say Privatte should be considered dangerous.

"We certainly don't know if he's armed, but he should be considered dangerous with the type of crimes he's in our jail for," said Lt. Dan Norris of MCSO.

Anyone who may know the whereabouts of Privatte may also call 936-760-5800 and choose option 3, or contact their local law enforcement immediate.
