Millions of Texans will hit the roads this week to spend Thanksgiving with family and many will get an early Christmas present when they pull up to the pump to fill up.
The ride might be cold and a bit rainy, but it will definitely cost you less to get to grandma's house this year. Analysts say we could get the lowest prices at the pump we've seen for this holiday since Thanksgiving 2010.
According to AAA Texas, last year at this time the average price of a gallon of gas in Houston was $3.15. As of last Thursday, it was just $2.99.
On GasBuddy.com, the lowest price we found listed in our area Monday is $2.85 a gallon at the Costco on the Katy Freeway at Bunker Hill.
Of the 3.4 million Texans traveling for Thanksgiving, AAA says the majority, 3.1 million, will travel by car.
If you're still planning your trip, you should know Wednesday is the busiest travel day on Texas roads this time of year. Most of those 3.1 million people will make their return trips back home on Sunday.
