The fish at the Golden Corral on the Gulf Freeway near Fuqua didn't pass one health inspector's smell test. He wrote that he "found fish an employee was about to cook with a foul odor." The fish was discarded because the inspector said it was "not safe for human consumption."

"Can you just tell us what was up with that fish?" Local 2 consumer expert Amy Davis asked the restaurant's manager as he escorted her out of the business.

"Just the water," he replied.

"The water was foul, but the fish wasn't bad?" Davis asked. The manager shook his head, confirming that is what he meant.

At the Pappas Bar-B-Q at 8777 Main Street, there were several small roaches crawling under a food preparation table in the kitchen.

Inspectors saw fruit flies and gnats behind the kitchen door at Seasons 52 in City Center.

There's something growing at Panda Garden at 5534 Weslayan, but it's not vegetables for the stir fry. Inspectors noted black mildew in the ice machine.

Our A+'s this week go to Jenni's Noodle House at 602 East 20th Street and Café Kubo's Sushi at 9889 Bellaire. Both restaurants had spotless inspections.
