Critters keeping cool is the theme of this Restaurant Report Card. Local 2 Consumer Expert Amy Davis has all the places health inspectors spotted roaches this week.

It's a scorcher outside, but inside Cafe Pita at 5501 McCulloch Circle, inspectors say there were roaches in the refrigerator. There was another one in the reach-in cooler at Fajita Flats at 11853 Wilcrest. And at Jefferson Cafe inside 600 Jefferson downtown inspectors saw a roach crawling inside the ice bin.

The giveaway that employees weren't using the kitchen hand sink to wash their hands at Khaty Seafood Market & Chinese at 15834 South Post Oak? A spider web in the sink and roaches on the soap holder.

Inspectors closed Mia Bella at 320 Main Street for having no hot water, for roaches and for food in the cooler that they said was off-temperature overnight. The owner told Davis by phone he was closed for two days to get a brand new water heater.

He said he exterminates the entire building twice a month and while his employees did discard all the food inspectors said was off-temperature, he said the lasagna wasn't completely cooled because it was just prepared that morning.

We're giving A+s this week to Colwell's BBQ Soul Food and More at 9230 Jensen and Pappasito's on the Katy Freeway near Town & Country. Great job to both restaurants for keeping it clean.
