HOUSTON -

Houston health inspectors had a busy week at local restaurants, with a special emphasis on the ice machines. Slime was a big problem all around town.

At the Dairy Dream in the 6100 block of Hirsch, inspectors found black slime in the ice maker.

The slime was a shade of brown at Mugsy's on Richmond, which is in the 2200 block. Inspectors condemned all the ice and told the staff to clean out the mess.

And pink was the not so pretty color for the slimy residue found in the ice machine at James Coney Island in the 3600 block of Shepherd.

The walk-in cooler had a major malfunction at Popeyes in the 8300 block of Broadway. And that meant tossing out hundreds of pounds of chicken and biscuits and another 30 pounds of slaw that were too warm.

There were insects making themselves at home inside the King Bo Restaurant in the 9600 block of the Southwest Freeway.

And roaches were crawling around prep tables, walls and floors inside the Sicilian Pizza and Pasta in the 6500 block of Westheimer Road.

Kudos this week go to Raising Cane's in the 12000 block of Westheimer and the Kolache Factory in the 15000 block of Park Row. Both had perfect inspections.
