HOUSTON -

This weekend is going to be a gorgeous one outside with a lot of free events around town. Here's a list of family friendly events from our friends at Houston on the Cheap:

Head out to the Hermann Park Kite Festival on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be kite-making, crafts, jugglers, kite contests and magicians. The event celebrates the park's centennial.

Help keep Texas clean at the annual Trash Bash this Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The statewide cleanup event happens at 16 locations across the city, including White Oak and Brays Bayous. Volunteers will receive free lunch and T-shirts as well as other giveaways.

Head downtown to Discovery Green on Sunday for Pet-a-Palooza. Dress up your four legged friends for a costume contest, pet agility competitions and plenty of freebies. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Enjoy free music and a sand castle building contest this Sunday in The Woodlands at the weekly concert in the park.  Swing Thing will be performing from 5:30 to 7:30 on Sunday evening. The event takes place at Northshore Park.
