Free outdoor movies, a great horse show and active family adventures! Here's a listing of some free things to do with the family this weekend thanks to our friends at Houston On The Cheap:

Free outdoor movies on Friday & Saturday nights
Discovery Green -- 1500 McKinney
Discovery Green and Chipotle are hosting Green Film Series, Friday, March 21, which is designed to challenge and educate the community. The free outdoor screening of "Farmed and Dangerous" offers a comical look at the industrial agriculture industry. Chipotle will be serving up free tacos for movie goers! Saint Arnold and Barefoot Wine will share drink samples. The movie kicks off at 8:15 p.m. at Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney, with pre-movie activities before. And Saturday, IKEA Houston Screen on the Green returns to Discovery Green with "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." The free outdoor movie begins at 8:15 p.m. with contests and giveaways beginning an hour before.

Frontier Fiesta
March 22, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
University of Houston
It's Family Fun Day at Frontier Fiesta, University of Houston's annual student-led spring festival since 1940. Enjoy lots of fun Saturday, March 22, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. including variety shows, petting zoo, face painting, inflatables, educational activities, wax hands, carnival rides, and the movie Frozen. Frontier Fiesta runs March 20-22 with free live concerts, multicultural performances, and variety shows. Performers include B.O.B. (Friday) and Love and Theft (Saturday).

Texas Wildlife & Woodland Expo Spring Fling
March 22, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Get your family outdoors Saturday, March 22, to the Texas Wildlife & Woodland Expo Spring Fling! Don't miss the free hands-on outdoor clinics, children's activities, and a photo with Smokey the Bear. The Family Adventure Zonefeatures a rock wall, crafts, petting zoo, live music, kayak instruction, and a close up visit with a screech owl. The Montgomery County Arbor Day celebration kicks off as well, with free tree seedlings for all throughout the day.

Pin Oak Charity Horse Show
March 19-30
The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show is an award winning equestrian athletic event featuring Olympic-level show jumping, elegant hunters, American Saddlebreds, Andalusians, Lusitanos, the emerging discipline of Working Equitation, and Welsh Ponies.  The show benefits several Houston-area children's health charities. Admission for most show events is free; however, general admission tickets for Grand Prix events on Saturdays, March 22 and March 29, are available for a $10 donation for adults and free for children 12 and under. Prior to the Grand Prix events, tickets are available by calling the Pin Oak office to purchase tickets at 713.621.6290.  On the day of these Grand Prix events, ticket sales begin at 5 p.m. Ticketing is located on the south side of the show grounds, just off the covered parking area.
