HPD: Thieves smash into store with stolen truck, take off empty-handed

HOUSTON – A group of thieves smashed into a convenience store, attempting to steal the ATM, but escaped empty-handed.

According to reports, the crooks backed their truck into a Valero Corner Store in the 800 block of Edgebrook Drive Wednesday around 2 a.m.

When they weren't able to remove the ATM from inside the store, the suspects drove off and abandoned the truck a few blocks away from the store, police said.

Investigators later recovered the truck.

"[Officers] found a truck that matched the description [of the suspect vehicle] with no one around," said Larry Crowson with the Houston Police Department. "At this time we have no suspects in custody."
