HOUSTON – The woman who left her 6-month-old baby alone in a hot car at Meyerland Plaza has been charged with abandonment and endangering a child. Abiola Alabi appeared before a judge Monday morning.
Security guards and bystanders jumped into action when the child was discovered inside an SUV Friday. A passerby luckily heard the child screaming and called for help.
Houston police said the baby was left alone for about 20 minutes while Alabi went shopping. Paramedics were called to the scene to check the baby's medical condition.
The baby was determined to be physically OK, and was placed in the care of relatives.
