Mom wants justice for slain 4-year-old

HOUSTON – The mother of a 4-year-old girl who was killed in the middle of the night talks about her pain and says she wants justice.

Looking at pictures of her 4-year-old daughter, Taylor Gene Moore, Crystal Babcock was heartbroken when she heard her daughter died Saturday morning.

"At first I thought it was a sick joke it was unbelievable," she said.

Laura Kolb, 36, was arrested Saturday morning after police received a call for an unresponsive child at Santa Fe Courtyard apartments.

Santa Fe police said Taylor lived with her father, Kevin Moore, and Kolb, his girlfriend.

The couple got into an argument and police said Kolb was angry. Kolb has been accused of shoving Taylor off of her bed, onto the floor, and then throwing her back on the bed.

Taylor died from her injuries. Kolb was charged with injury to a child.

Babcock said she is now hoping for justice to be served.

"Just an ounce of what my daughter went through … I don't think is too much to ask the death penalty," said Babcock.

Kolb remains in the Galveston County Jail. Additional charges could be filed pending autopsy results.
