Mom killed, baby injured in southwest Houston crash

HOUSTON – A red-light runner was killed and a baby was injured in a crash in southwest Houston Tuesday morning, according to Houston police.

Police said a woman was driving a black BMW 325 westbound in the 9200 block of North Braeswood around 6:25 a.m. when she ran a red light at the Chimney Rock intersection.

A man in a black Ford Excursion was driving northbound on Chimney Rock with a green light and struck the BMW on the driver's side.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Her baby was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Excursion was also transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
