PASADENA, Texas -

A mother faces child endangerment charges after police said she left her children in a hot car while she was shopping at a department store.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Macy's on 1101 Southmore in Pasadena.

Pasadena police said Rose Belinda Sanchez, 30, was returning merchandise to the Macy's when she left her two children in their car seats in her vehicle parked in the store's parking lot.

Police said Sanchez shut the engine was off and the windows were completely rolled up while it was 82 degrees outside.

Officials said during the 45 minutes Sanchez was inside the store, four different customers saw the children locked in the car. Pasadena police were then called.

Police said the 1-year-old boy was trying to get himself out of the car and was screaming, while his 3-year-old sister was sweating profusely and falling asleep.

Sanchez was arrested at the scene, and the children were released into their father's care.

Sanchez was charged with endangering a child. Her bond was set at $2,000.
