A Houston mother is accused of leaving her young child wandering alone at night while she was making out with a man in a parked vehicle.
According to court documents, on Sept. 15 at around 4am a 5-year-old girl was found wandering alone at an apartment complex in the 10200 block of Telephone Rd. in southeast Houston. A witness saw the girl crying out for her mother. The witness asked a second witness to check the girl's apartment, which was unlocked and no one was inside. The witnesses stayed with the girl until police arrived.
Police say when they interviewed the mother, Elisea Hernandez-Ramirez, she originally told them she left her daughter alone to help out a sick friend and didn't leave until 6am. When police confronted her about that time, they say Hernandez-Ramirez said she left at 3:50am and was only gone 45 minutes.
According to police, Hernandez-Ramirez then changed her story again, saying she was with a different friend in the same complex watching a movie and left the girl alone for three hours.
Houston police say Hernandez-Ramirez later admitted that she was making out with a male friend in a truck in the parking lot and that she left her daughter unattended. Court documents state she told investigators that the girl's father had left for work at around 2am.
Hernandez-Ramirez, 24, is charged with abandoning a child.
