Missing Texas A&M football player found

Police say Thomas Johnson is safe

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M University police found missing student and Aggies wide receiver, Thomas Linze Johnson.

Police department officials said Johnson was found safe in Dallas early Thursday morning.  Officials said they would provide a news release with more details later Thursday.

Johnson, 18, disappeared Monday.  He was last seen leaving his residence in College Station around 5 p.m. Johnson is from Dallas.

His mother told ESPN.com that her son has not contacted her since his disappearance. She headed to College Station after he was reported missing. She said she had no other information.

"People were definitely worried about him," Texas A&M student Tyler Kubala said. "There was a little bit of tension, but I think now that he's been found, everyone can breathe a sigh of relief.

From his first game this year, the college freshman has proven to be a contributor to the Aggies.

Aggies Coach Kevin Sumlin released the following statement.

"We are pleased and relieved to find T.J. Our foremost concern is for the health and well-being of T.J. I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and efforts in locating him."

No explanation has been given for Johnson's disappearance.

The timing was unusual because the eighth-ranked Aggies have a game this week at Kyle Field, and his disappearance comes just days after A&M's huge win over then top-ranked Alabama. Johnson had three catches in that game.
