HOUSTON -

A missing Alief ISD student was found safe late Monday night in southwest Houston.

The Holub Middle School student went to school in the morning but did not return to his home at the Mai Apartment Homes on Rodeo Square Drive in the afternoon.

Alief ISD Public Relations Specialist Craig Eichhorn talked with Local 2 by phone after the boy was found.

Eichhorn said he and a police officer spent the evening asking people in the area around the school and the complex if they had seen the seventh-grader.

After tracking down several leads, Eichhorn said they spotted the boy around 11:30 p.m.  He was wandering around his own apartment complex.

The seventh-grader was not hurt, according to Eichhorn.  In fact, he went to a nearby store and got chips and a drink while he was wandering around.

The boy told Eichhorn he had no idea anyone was looking for him.

The boy was reunited with his mother and father Monday night, Eichhorn said.
