HOUSTON -

It may seem odd: U.S. military using flags that were made in other countries.

A new law is now forcing the Pentagon to shop locally.

This went into effect Friday.

While the flags were anatomically correct, there was never a law that required government officials to buy only flags made in the U.S. until now.

California Democratic house Rep. Mike Thompson added new provision to the recently passed omnibus spending bill.

This new measure falls under the Berry Amendment, which restricts military funds from being used to buy certain items that are not produced in the U.S.
