HOUSTON -

School administrators spent part of Thursday night making calls and notifying parents of students at Jane Long Academy after allegations surfaced of indecency involving a teacher.

Sources said the teacher is accused of inappropriate conduct and police are investigating allegations that the teacher had sexual contact with at least one special education student, maybe more.

Parents picking their kids up from campus Thursday afternoon were stunned.

"It's kind of shocking," said Cornelius Slaughter. "Are they investigating? They going to take care of the problem?"

According to a recorded message that went out to parents, the teacher has been removed from the classroom and the police are now investigating.

A statement from the school district said officials with Child Protective Services were also notified. The teacher's name has not been released because no criminal charges have been filed at this point.  Right now the case is under investigation.

"We can't comment further because of the ongoing investigation," said Sheleah Reed, press secretary for the Houston Independent School District. "We take these situations very seriously and will thoroughly investigate all allegations. Our goal during this time is to ensure that students feel safe and teaching and learning continue, uninterrupted."
