METRORail will be closed this weekend

HOUSTON – Part of the METRORail service will be shut down this weekend in downtown Houston. The closure is to allow construction crews to prepare the new track for METRORail expansion.

The rail service between the Downtown Transit Center and UH-Downtown stations will be closed beginning Friday at 7 p.m. It will reopen on Monday at 4 a.m. During the closure, service will be provided to riders by METRO bus shuttles that will operate every 10 minutes.

Main Street between Texas and Walker will be closed. However, businesses and residences on Main Street will be still be accessible during light-rail construction.

Rusk traffic will detour north on Travis, east on Texas, south on Fannin, and east on Rusk.

Capitol traffic will detour south on Fannin, west on Walker, north on Travis, and west on Capitol.
