Men assault female jogger at gunpoint in Terry Hershey Park restroom

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating a report of a female jogger being sexually assaulted and robbed at gunpoint Friday morning.

The alleged incident happened at Terry Hershey Park located on N. Eldridge Parkway in west Houston.

The woman says she was followed into the park's bathroom and attacked by two men.

After the men left,  the woman ran to a nearby coffee shop and she called police and her husband.

Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constables also responded to the scene to help with the investigation.

Police have not released very many details about the case, but a neighborhood association has issued a warning to residents.

Employees at a nearby coffee shop said the victim is a regular customer who managed to run a quarter mile up North Eldridge to their cafe for help.

"I know she came here right away," said an employee. "She was definitely more shook up than anything and I'm sure just being in a comfortable place after that happened helped."

They are urging people who use Terry Hershey Park to make sure they walk, jog or bike with a friend and always carry a cell phone programmed with emergency numbers.

According to the alert emailed by the neighborhood group, the suspects are described as two black males between the ages of 18 and 20. One was wearing a black jacket and the other wore  a gray sweatshirt.

If you have any information about the case, call Harris Co. Precinct 5 Constable's Office at 281-463-666.
