HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Two men have been arrested after a 7-mile chase in a stolen vehicle, according to the Harris County Constable's Office, Precinct 4.

A deputy noticed a suspicious vehicle occupied by two men in the Walmart parking lot in the 21100 block of Kuykendahl Road at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities said a check of the vehicle revealed that it had been reported stolen.

The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Authorities said that's when the driver of the vehicle began to flee.

The driver led deputies on a 7-mile chase, authorities said. The men abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot in the 7500 block of FM 2920.

Authorities said constable deputies established a perimeter and canine and air support were called in to assist.

A call was received during that search advising that a resident in the area had one of the men held at gunpoint in his backyard, authorities said.

Deputies arrived and took Christopher McKinney, 28, into custody. Authorities said the second man was found by a Precinct 4 canine. The man had been hiding in a drainage ditch, trying to conceal himself.

After a short struggle, Richard Bowman, 30, surrendered and was taken into custody, authorities said.

"Richard Bowman was arrested and booked into the Harris County jail for evading, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance for illegal narcotics found inside of the vehicle," Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said. "While evading, Christopher McKinney assaulted and was unsuccessful in an attempt to steal a citizen's vehicle as she was leaving for work. McKinney was charged with robbery with bodily injury.

Herman said both men received no bond out of the 179th District Court.
