MCSO: Grow house found after fatal shooting

CONROE, Texas – A father who, investigators said, was running an indoor marijuana growing operation has been accused of killing a man.

Jamie Ryan Devita, 33, has been arrested and charged with murder.

Montgomery County sheriff's deputies said Devita and Marcus Fisher, 51, got into an argument in the 16900 block of West Hammon, west of Conroe," about 5 p.m. Thursday.

Detectives said Fisher, who arrived at a nearby home to visit friends, was confronted by Devita. At some point, Devita fired one shot from a shotgun, officials said.

Fisher suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and died, detectives said.

Deputies said witnesses told them that they saw Devita's wife and children just before the shooting, but they could not find them after the shooting. Investigators searched Devita's home and found April Nicole Devita, 30, and the couple's 2- and 4-year-old children hiding.

Investigators said they also found an indoor marijuana growing operation inside the home, as well as guns that were within the children's reach.

April Devita was also arrested and charged with endangering a child.
