Mary Lee joined KPRC Local 2 as a weekend meteorologist in June 2010.
She's already familiar with Texas weather, since she moved to Houston from her job at KXAN TV in Austin, where she was a weathercaster and reporter.
Her career began in California, with stints at KHSL TV in Chico and KOVR TV in Sacramento.
Mary grew up in northern California and hails from Fairfield, Calif.
She earned her degree at the University of California, Davis.
"I'm a California girl who came to the Lone Star State to experience and forecast the wild and legendary Texas weather. Once I got here, I was hooked and amazed," she said. "My most memorable weather story was the flash floods of 2007. You could call it my introduction to Texas weather. It was one of the most devastating floods in Central Texas history. An unbelievable 19 inches of rain fell in a matter of hours in Marble Falls. Neighborhoods turned into lakes, homes were flooded and roads were washed away by torrential rain. Incredible."
Mary said she doesn't mind getting up early to bring folks the weather.
"Helping people wake up in the mornings by giving them the weather for the day is my favorite part of my job. Hopefully, I can brighten their day, too," she said.
Mary is proud "momma" to her pet Chihuahua named Rosco.
Mary considers eating a hobby and is eager to try out all the fabulous restaurants and hot spots in Houston.
